We are thankful you have chosen St. Pius X as your spiritual home.  We are grateful for this partnership with you to live our mission.  We are confident that this parish offers exceptional experiences in a deeply faith-filled environment.

In April 2023 we introduced the Commitment of Faith to the families enrolled in our parochial school.  In March 2025 the Diocese defined an active parishioner “as a family that is registered and/or living within the boundaries of supporting parishes; attends Mass on Sundays and Holy Days, practices stewardship of time, talent, and treasure, and meets financial responsibilities in support of the school and parish.”  Considering this expanded definition, we have revised and expanded our Commitment of Faith statement to include our expectations for all families in our parish family and what this parish family promises to do to support you to grow in the faith, no matter what your stage of life is.  We believe that when you participate in any parish or diocesan ministry, including faith formation programs and our Catholic schools, you are partnering with us to live our mission.  Further, we agree that we are working together to encounter Jesus Christ and the truths of our Catholic faith through intellectual, spiritual, moral, and human formation.

We are excited to boldly live our faith together! Please review the St. Pius X Commitment of Faith and return the signature page to the Gathering Space as soon as possible. Your signature and your presence at Sunday Mass demonstrate your commitment to live our faith with courage while striving towards greater discipleship! We look forward to working together as we strive to Love God. Love Others. Make Disciples. Restore All Things in Christ.

In Christ,

Fr. Matthew Luft

Pastor

   Commitment of Faith

St. Pius X Catholic Church strives to be authentically Catholic by living our mission to Love God, Love Others, Make Disciples, Restore All Things In Christ. This document is an expression of our intention to partner with you in a spirit of respect and cooperation to live our mission in the world.

St. Pius X’s Commitment

As a Roman Catholic parish in the Diocese of Des Moines, we enter a partnership with you to make disciples.   Our purpose at St. Pius is to get each other to heaven; we will present the teachings of the Catholic Church in fullness, authenticity and truth.  We pledge that the Catholic Faith will be the driving factor in all decisions related to all our ministry efforts.  With Jesus Christ as the center of our efforts, we will pray for and with each other in this Catholic parish community.

We pledge our full support to all members of our parish to Love God, Love Others, Make Disciples, and Restore All Things in Christ.  We share with our families an understanding of the partnership to live our common mission:

  • We will regularly witness to our students the joy of our faith.
  • We will provide regular opportunities to grow in love of God and neighbor.
  • We will offer Mass each day, particularly on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation.
  • We profess the Nicene Creed as the main summation of our belief in God.
  • We will offer additional opportunities to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) communally at least twice a year.
  • We will invite all to receive the Eucharist when they have fully prepared themselves to do so.
  • We will facilitate ways to make it easier for all to observe days of fasting and abstinence as prescribed by the Church.
  • We will provide opportunities for our families to contribute to the material needs of the Church and the world.
  • We will serve as missionary disciples who live and grow in our faith.
  • We will grant “active parishioner” status for families who live this Commitment of Faith enrolled in a Catholic school.

A Family’s Commitment

As a family, we enter a partnership with St. Pius X to help us mature in the faith.   Our purpose is to help each other to get to heaven; we understand and agree that we will be taught the teachings of the Catholic Church in fullness, authenticity and truth.  We realize that the Catholic Faith will be the driving factor in all decisions related to all ministry efforts.  With Jesus Christ as the center of our efforts, we will pray for and with this Catholic parish community.

We pledge our full support with St. Pius X to prepare ourselves to Love God, Love Others, Make Disciples, and Restore All Things in Christ.  We will ensure our family is committed to this agreement. We enter this partnership with the parish with the same understanding of what it means to live our common mission:

  • We commit to the family’s participation at Mass in the parish regularly on Sunday and the Holy Days of Obligation.
  • We profess the Nicene Creed as the main summation of our belief in God.
  • We will be active witnesses to the Faith of the Church by our daily teaching and living, making discipleship a way of life; supporting the moral and social teachings of the Catholic Church, by word and example, and will strive for consistency between what is taught and practiced in the home and beyond.
  • We will support our parish through regular tithing. We will have an active involvement in the various parish ministries, each according to his or her time and talents.
  • We commit to the understanding of and respect for all members of our community.
  • We will demonstrate our respect for and cooperation with those who support us in providing the Catholic formation: the priests, parish ministry team members, and other parishioners.
  • We will show respect for the teachings, services, and traditions of the Roman Catholic faith.
  • We will participate when possible in various religious activities including but not limited to Adoration, service projects, special prayer services, and sacramental preparation.

The foundation for our relationship is Jesus Christ Himself.  We will build this relationship through trust and a shared purpose.
